Retail Management and Master Concession Services
HTAR combines specialized manpower with an in-depth insight into airport retail business. Our full-service business
model covers a broad spectrum of services. We can act as coordinator (Retail Management) or as a single-source
provider (Master Concession) assuming overall responsibility for retail investment and operations. Our lengthy
experience, backed by the financial strength of HOCHTIEF AirPort, enables us to offer our partners a fully integrated
business approach.
The chief features of our master concession business model:
- An airport grants HTAR the right to manage and/or operate retail activities (shops,
food and beverage units, duty free) at its own risk in a long-term partnership
- An airport outsources retail activities, including management, operation and, as
the case may be, also investment
Core obligations of HTAR as master concessionaire:
- Payment of concession fee to the airport: turnover share or minimum annual guarantee (whichever is higher)
- Development of the retail concept
- Marketing of the retail units and attracting the most
suitable operators, concepts and brands
- Investment in retail units (including shop structures/shells)
- Implementation of the shops and bars/restaurants
- Management and operation of retail units with an emphasis
on outstanding customer service
- Maximization of airport profits from retail activities
The key features of our retail management business model:
- An airport appoints HTAR to manage on behalf of the airport the retail
activities (shops, food and beverage units, duty free)
- The airport compensates HTAR in form of sales related and/or revenue share or minimum annual fixed fee (whichever is higher)
Core obligations of HTAR as retail manager:
- Function as interface between retailers and airport
- Taking over of day-to-day business
- Optimization of retail operations
- Maximization of retail sales as well as airport revenues
Supporting the airport in strategic development of the retail businesses, HTAR draws on its international experience, its
networks and its professional retail management skills to ensure international best practice even at smaller and medium-sized
airports.
